When a person is wearing tight braids, buns and cornrows, she is actually encouraging the development of thinning hair loss. This is primarily true because these type of hairstyles are putting severe stress on the scalp and preventing the follicles to ‘breathe’ naturally. If the hairstyles are prolonged, they will result in scarring and hair would not grow on the scarred scalp at all. Therefore, it is important to use easy hairstyles that allow the scalp to be stress free. Apart from having improper hairstyles, hot oil treatments and permanent hair treatments can also contribute to the thinning of the hair, because these treatments usually contain very harsh chemicals that are dangerous to the health of the scalp and hair. In fact, continued use of hot oil treatments can actually result in follicle inflammation.
Thinning hair loss can be treated but it must be based on the root cause of the problem. If a person experiences hair loss due to pregnancy and giving birth, no remedies are actually needed because the problem will be gone after a few months. The same goes when a person is losing hair after a surgery – the condition will heal by itself within several months and the hair will grow back to normal. When a person loses hair due to consumption of improper diet, the condition will automatically be healed when she starts eating healthy food again. Illnesses like thyroid and imbalance of the hormones, on the other hand, must be treated first before the scalp will be able to resume normal hair growth. If a person is taking some form of medication that makes the hair fall off, the hair will grow back to normal when the intake of the medication is stopped. However, it is very important to consult a doctor before stopping any presribed medicine.
Thinning hair loss can be treated using many approaches; some of them use creams that can be purchased over the counter, while some others need the prescription from a doctor. However, it should be noted that some creams have negative side effects and should be used with caution. It is true that nowadays there are more remedies available for men than for women. However, it is observed that more hair care institutions have been established and they tend to focus more on women due to the increasing demand from this side of gender.
